The Association of Professional Independent Chimney Sweeps (APICS)
The Association of Professional Independent Chimney Sweeps (APICS) is dedicated to sharing and promoting the knowledge and expertise of its members. Educating the public about chimney safety and CO awareness is of paramount importance.
British Gas is a British-owned company. As part of the Centrica Group, they provide gas, electricity and home repair services to millions of customers in Scotland, Wales and England.
Carbon Monoxide Alarms Ltd
Carbon Monoxide Alarms Ltd is a company set up to stop people dying and suffering from "the silent killer". Following research into this topic, we were shocked and dismayed to know that so many were suffering and dying from carbon monoxide poisoning.
CO Awareness – Victim Charity
CO Awareness was granted charitable status in September 2008 under the title Carbon Monoxide Awareness Ltd. the charity. Five Trustees were appointed, Lynn Griffiths, Bryan Nott, Daniella Montaldi, John Stones and Tony Brunton. Tony Brunton was elected to chair the Board in January 2009 and Lynn Griffiths to the position of President. For reference and activity purposes the charity is still known as CO Awareness and has chosen as the principal objectives for this year, which starts with CO Awareness Week, the significant enhancement of information on the causes and effects of CO poisoning and an increase in the effectiveness of the type of support offered to victims.
CO-Awareness week 2009 is 16th. November through to 20th. November. Venues are House of Lords, Waterfront Hall Belfast, Cardiff City Hall Cardiff, Glasgow City Chambers Glasgow and the Mechanics Institute Manchester.
CO-Gas Safety is an independent registered charity, set up in 1995 to work to reduce accidents from Carbon Monoxide poisoning and other gas dangers.
CoGDEM is the Council of Gas Detection and Environmental Monitoring, the trade association for manufacturers of gas detectors and instruments such as domestic CO alarms and Flue Gas Analysers
The Consumer Council represents Northern Ireland consumers and gives them a voice. It ensures that policy and decision makers take their views into account. It works with other organisations to put consumers at the heart of society. It runs education and information campaigns.
CORGI is the national watchdog for gas safety in the United Kingdom and holds the register of all competent gas installers in the UK. CORGI was founded in 1970 to protect the public from the dangers of unsafe gas installations.
The CORGI Trust was established in 2005 as a registered charitable body with the key objectives of further improving gas safety for the public and industry throughout the United Kingdom and reducing the incidents of death and serious injury from carbon monoxide exposure.

Since the death of her son to Carbon Monoxide poisoning, Stacey Rodgers has worked tirelessly campaigning locally in Huddersfieldand nationally for greater awareness of Carbon Monoxide poisoning.

The Energy Retail Association
The Energy Retail Association (ERA), formed in 2003, represents Britain's domestic electricity and gas suppliers in the domestic market in Great Britain; British Gas, EDF Energy, npower, Powergen, Scottish Power, and Scottish and Southern Energy.
The Gas Industry Safety Group
The Gas Industry Safety Group (GISG) was formed in 2000 by principal organisations within the industry to promote gas safety, encourage co-operation amongst industry players to develop, introduce and improve practices for the safe transmission, storage and use of gas throughout the UK, and to ensure the safety of consumers and the public.
The Guild of Master Sweeps
The Guild of Master Sweeps is a professional organisation working closely with European colleagues, to raise standards in the industry and promote consumer awareness around the dangers associated with burning carbon based fuels.
HETAS is the official body recognised by government to approve solid fuel domestic heating appliances, fuels and services. Its work in approving products covers boilers, cookers, open fires and stoves and room-heaters.
The HVCA represents the interests of firms active in the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration (hvacr) products and equipment. HVCA members are subject to regular, third-party inspection and assessment to ensure their technical and commercial competence and all domestic members are registered with the Government's TrustMark scheme.
The Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering
The Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (IPHE) is the UK’s professional and technical body for all plumbing and heating professionals.
